The center operates with a Four-Star license and an 18-month compliance history score of 98%, effective February 15, 2019. The restrictions include: First and Second Shift; Meets enhanced ratios, Meets enhanced space. The Secretary of State website was checked and the status of OUR FUTURE GENERATION was current and active. I was greeted by G. McHenry, staff. B. Torrence, Owner/Director greeted me and I discussed with Ms. Torrence the Annual Compliance Monitoring guidelines and she assisted me with the walk through of the center. The following items were posted within the center/ classrooms: Daily schedules, activity plans, staff/child ratio worksheets, emergency numbers, emergency procedures, arrival/ departure procedures, summary of law and menus. Indoor Learning Environment: Staff/child ratio, supervision, capacity, group size and space were observed in compliance today. Children were observed engaged in multi-play opportunities and transitions. There were seven (7) children present today. There are twelve (12) children enrolled in the center. The center is currently only providing care for first shift. Outdoor Learning Environment: The outdoor learning environment was monitored today and not in compliance. The stairs on the play structure on the far right side of the play area was not properly installed/ attached. Inspections: The outdoor inspections and fire drills were monitored. The last fire drill was conducted on 7/8/24. The centers last documented lockdown was conducted on 5/1/24. The last monthly playground inspection was conducted on 7/1/2024. The center last had a sanitation inspection on 2/5/2024. The center received 3 demerits and received superior classification. The center last had a fire inspection on 7/9/2024. Transportation: The center does not provide transportation. Nutrition: Meals met nutritional value during today’s visit. Files: Children records were monitored today and in compliance. Staff files were monitored today and not in compliance. There were three (3) violations cited during today's visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 721 All equipment and furnishings were not in good repair. On the outdoor learning environment, I observed the stairs on the play structure to the far right not installed properly/ not attached. G.S. 110-91(6); .0601(b) 840 All corrosive agents, pesticides, bleaches, detergents, cleansers, polishes, any product which is under pressure in an aerosol dispenser, and any substance which may be hazardous to a child if ingested, inhaled, or handled were not stored in a locked room or cabinet. In the kitchen, I observed a container of bleach underneath the kitchen sink. In space #1 and #3, I observed tubes of paint that says "keep out of reach of young children" on the shelves, accessible to children. .2820(b) 862 The EMC plan was not reviewed with all staff annually and whenever the plan was revised. One out of four staff member did not have documentation of reviewing the EMC plan annually. (GH) 10A NCAC 09 .0802(a) Violations must be corrected immediately. A signed and dated letter of compliance must be emailed to me by 8/13/2024, stating how each violation was corrected and how compliance will be maintained in the future include the violation number, statement of compliance, license ID and your signature in the letter or e-mail. Failure to correct the violations and send the written statement by the due date listed above may result in an unannounced follow-up visit being conducted or an administrative action may be recommended. Based on Child Care Rule 10A NCAC 09 Section .2200, the Division of Child Development and Early Education may take administrative action against the license and/or impose civil penalties based on the failure of the operator to correct any documented violations within the established time period. If you state in your letter that corrections have been made when they have not, it will be considered falsification of information. The center currently has a Four- Star rated license, the 18-month compliance history score is 99%. The center license and Summary of the Law was prominently posted. I was greeted by B. Torrence, Owner/Director. I informed Ms. Torrence the reason for my visit. Ms. Torrencce assisted me with the walkthrough of the center. Permit information-the program operates with a Four- Star license, issued February 15, 2019. The center has four (4) points for education, seven (7) points for program standards and one (1) quality point. License restriction include: First and Second Shift; Meets enhanced ratios; Meets enhanced space. The program is still located at 4600 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte, NC 28208. The phone number is 704-393-3584. The center had seven (7) children present, and nine (9) children enrolled. The following items were monitored: Supervision, S/C Ratio, Storage of Hazardous Substances, Storage of Medication, Adequate Approved Space, Program Records, License Posted and Permit Restrictions. The center has not hired any new staff member since their last visit. The center’s last fire drill was documented for 2/5/2024. The center’s last shelter-in-place was on 2/5/2024. The last sanitation inspection was completed on 2/5/2024 with 3 demerits, receiving a superior rating. The center playground inspections were conducted and documented as required. There were (2) violations cited during todays visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 815 Electrical cords were accessible to infants and toddlers. In space #3, I observed an AC unit inside the window with a cord plugged in to the electrical outlet and accessible to a toddler. 10A NCAC 09 .0604(f) 859 Monthly playground inspections were not completed and/or they were not completed by an individual trained in playground safety requirements. The center did not have documentation of a monthly playground inspection for August 2023. .0605(q) Technical Assistance: 1. 10A NCAC 09 .0604(f)- Electrical cords shall not be accessible to infants and toddlers. Rated License: Your facility is in cohort two. I will reach out to you prior to the beginning of the preparation year of your assigned cohort and will provide guidance to assist you as you begin the process.
