This facility currently operates with a five (5) star rated license effective April 29, 2019. Upon arrival, I signed in at the front desk and waited for the receptionist to contact the Afterschool staff. I spoke with the receptionist and asked if I was permitted to walk to the afterschool space. I walked to the cafeteria, where the children were eating pm snack. I greeted both teachers and I stated the purpose of my visit. This visit was conducted with Ms. H. Adderton, program coordinator, we conducted a walk-through of the facility. I observed the children engaged in the following activities: handwashing and arrival into the cafeteria. Children were served a snack that was composed of grilled cheese sandwich vegetable juice and milk. After snack and handwashing, children were observed playing in various centers. Science, blocks, books, writing, Art, dramatic play, fine motor, and social studies. The children do not use the playground due to lack of mulch and have been using the field and allowing children to play with portable gross motor equipment. If you do not use the climbing structure during the environmental rating scale assessment, you will potentially score low due to not meeting the assessment requirements.
