The last annual compliance visit was conducted on 2/15/23. The compliance history for this facility prior to this visit was 97%. The facility currently holds a 5-star rated license. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Ms. Bobbie Loving, Site Coordinator. I shared the reason for the visit. Ms. Loving assisted me with today’s visit. I used the “Annual Compliance Monitoring Checklist for Child Care Centers” as a monitoring tool during today’s visit. I conducted a walk-through of the facility. I monitored all of the indoor and outdoor spaces used by the afterschool program. I observed staff/child ratios, supervision, capacity, group size, indoor and outdoor spaces, safety and program management. I monitored the staff and children’s offsite verification forms. The review of records for staff and children was completed on 8/31/23. There were no new staff members. There were thirty-nine (39) school age children present during the visit. I observed the children engaged in arrival, transitioning to and from bathroom and snack time. There was a variety of activity stations available for the children including reading, math, science, writing, arts, housekeeping and social studies. Medication is currently not administered. The last sanitation inspection was conducted on 2/8/24 with zero (0) demerits and a superior classification. A fire inspection was conducted on 11/1/23, however there were violations cited and no documentation of an approved re-inspection. I discussed with Ms. Loving the requirement of an approved fire inspection within 12 months of the previous approved fire inspection. A copy of the computer-generated visit summary will be sent to you along with a copy of the enrollment/staff/child worksheet and the “AC Monitoring Checklist for Child Care Centers”. The violation observed during the visit was discussed with Ms. Loving and documented in the visit summary. The following violation was observed: Violation Number Comment Rule 106 Operator has not scheduled and obtained a fire inspection within 12 months of the previous inspection. Operator did not submit the original approved report to DCDEE within one week of the inspection visit on a form provided by the Division. An approved fire inspection report has not been obtained within 12 months of the previous inspection. 10A NCAC 09 .0304(a) All violations documented above must be corrected immediately. A letter of compliance will need to be sent to me stating how each violation was corrected. Include the violation number, statement of compliance, license ID and your signature in the letter. Your compliance letter must be received, via email, by February 27, 2024. She shared the articles written about the award. Technical Assistance/Resources: • During the visit, I reminded Ms. Loving that the ASEP is in cohort #2 for the rated license reassessment. The prep year is from 7/1/24-6/30/25 and the reassessment year is from 7/1/25-6/30/26. • During the visit, I discussed with Ms. Loving the need to add loose surface material to the two outdoor playground areas. The current depth is not adequate for the height of the equipment. Ms. Loving shared that she has requested that more mulch be installed and has been following up with the responsible party to get the job completed.
