The facility currently operates with a Four Star Child Care License that was issued on March 9, 2018. The last annual compliance visit was conducted on May 7, 2024. Upon arrival, I signed in at the school’s main office and then proceeded to the Site Director’s office. The children were observed arriving in the gym, dividing into groups, washing their hands and preparing for and eating snack. During today’s visit, a partial assessment of applicable Child Care Requirements was conducted. The following violation was cited and must be corrected immediately. Violation Number Comment Rule 301 Minimum staff/child ratios and group sizes for the number and ages of children in care were not met. Two teachers were absent leaving the site director and one other caregiver providing care for 53 children. GS 110-91(7);.0713(a-d) The above violations must be corrected immediately. I must receive a compliance statement/ letter by email or mail by 12/5/2024. In the letter, include the following information: 1. Your facility ID# and Name 2. Visit date 3. Violation item number(s) 4. How and when the violation was corrected (Be specific) 5. Your signature/name and position The staff were provided an opportunity to ask questions regarding interpretation and implementation of all child care requirements. Child care licensing rules and regulations are established to ensure a safe and healthy environment for children in care. Therefore, it is important for staff to be knowledgeable of all of the licensing requirements that apply to this program. The best way for you to make sure that you are meeting all requirements is to periodically review the child care law and rules. Both are available on the DCDEE website https://ncchildcare.ncdhhs.gov/, on the home page under the ‘Services’ tab. RESOURCES: -The Health and Safety Trainings are offered on the DCDEE Moodle format as well.
