    Name of Operation: NORTH CHATHAM PRE-KINDERGARTEN Facility ID: 19000251 Consultant: BRANDON FRY Operation Type: Center Case Number: Visit Date: 5/28/2024 Number Present: 36 Completed Date: 5/28/2024 Age: From 4 To 5 Total Minutes: 135 Time In: 09:30 AM Time Out: 11:45 AM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Center Type Of Visit: Annual Comp Full Announced/Unannounced: Unannounced The purpose of today’s visit was to monitor your program for compliance with applicable child care requirements for an annual compliance visit. Your program currently operates with a five-star license, issued October 16, 2018, earning 7 points in the education component, 7 points in the program standards component meeting enhanced requirements, reduced ratios, and 1 quality point for offering a staff benefits package and an infrastructure of parent involvement. Your program was also monitored for compliance with implementing an approved curriculum as required for all four- and five-star licensed facilities where four-year-old children are enrolled. The last annual compliance visit was conducted September 6, 2023. The sanitation inspection was completed March 19, 2024, with a “Superior” classification. The last fire inspection was conducted November 21, 2023, and your facility was approved for daytime care only. The center's compliance history was reviewed with the operator. The program’s compliance history was one hundred percent as of May 28, 2024. Children enrolled in portable one, were participating in group activities. Children were practicing for the preschool graduation, singing songs, and participating in centers. Centers included, science, art, dramatic play, blocks, etc. Teachers were seen walking around the room and engaging with the children. Children in portable two were participating in free choice activities that included puzzles, dramatic play, blocks, etc. Teachers were walking around the room and engaging with the children. During the visit the following records were reviewed: children’s files, staff records, menus, emergency drills, outdoor inspection reports, License, permit restrictions, sanitation, and fire inspections. All records were current and available for review. Lunch consisted of pizza, broccoli with cheese, strawberry cup, and milk. The following was cited during today’s visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 856 The indoor and/or outdoor premises was not checked once a day, prior to initial use, ensuring debris, and broken equipment was removed and disposed of. The plastic kitchen burner is damaged/cracked in the outdoor learning environment. 10A NCAC 09 .0604(p) Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Any violation(s) documented may impact the compliance history score. The violation(s) documented must be corrected immediately. On or before June 11, 2024, I must receive a written, dated, and signed compliance letter that describes accurately and in detail how and when the violations were corrected. Please be aware any information submitted by you is considered legal documentation. If it is determined the information provided in the letter is not true, this may be considered falsification of information. If sufficient information is not received by the due date, a follow-up visit may be completed. The burner is broken and needs to be removed or fixed as sharp edges are now exposed. It appears that the burner attachment may be able to be removed which would help save the house from being removed. We also discussed some ideas to help manage a group of children waiting in line to wash hands or use the bathroom.
