    Name of Operation: LEGACY ACADEMY FOR CHILDREN Facility ID: 68000485 Consultant: CAROLINE SYKES Operation Type: Center Case Number: Visit Date: 8/14/2024 Number Present: 66 Completed Date: 8/14/2024 Age: From 0 To 4 Total Minutes: 135 Time In: 09:30 AM Time Out: 11:45 AM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Center Type Of Visit: Routine Unannounced Announced/Unannounced: Unannounced The purpose of today’s visit was to monitor for all applicable Child Care Requirements. The last Annual Compliance Visit was conducted on February 7, 2024. The assistant director, Armando Garcia, was present and assisted me during the visit. Mr. Garcia accompanied me on a walkthrough of the facility where attendance was documented, and observations made. The director left employment on 10/27/23. The center is currently recruiting to fill the open position. Once the new director is hired you will need to submit a new Preservice Administrator Form to me via email. The last fire inspection was conducted on 1/31/24. The last sanitation inspection was completed on 6/5/24 with a “Superior” classification. Infants and toddlers were observed participating in free play, resting, washing hands, playing outside, and eating breakfast. Preschool-aged children were observed participating in indoor free play activities and group time. .During today’s visit, a partial assessment of applicable Child Care Requirements was conducted. The following violation was cited. Violation Number Comment Rule 847 Parent's medication authorization did not include required information. A medication form in space 8 did not include a parent or physician signature. 10A NCAC 09 .0803(4)(6-9) In order to comply with the NC Laws and Rules any violations cited today must be corrected immediately. A compliance letter must be sent to me by August 24, 2024. The letter must address the violation and explain how it has been corrected. Child care licensing rules and regulations are established to ensure a safe and healthy environment for children in care. Therefore, it is important for you to be knowledgeable of all of the licensing requirements that apply to your program. It is your responsibility to maintain compliance with all of the applicable laws and rules at all times. The best way for you to make sure that you are meeting all requirements is to periodically review the child care law and rules. Both are available on the DCDEE website https://ncchildcare.ncdhhs.gov/ ,on the home page under the ‘Services’ tab. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE: A violation was cited regarding medications. We discussed the importance of ensuring that medication forms are completed in their entirety including parent and/or physician signatures.
