Name of Operation: KEHILLAH JEWISH PRESCHOOL Facility ID: 68000502 Consultant: CAROLINE SYKES Operation Type: Center Case Number: Visit Date: 7/16/2024 Number Present: 62 Completed Date: 7/16/2024 Age: From 0 To 5 Total Minutes: 270 Time In: 09:00 AM Time Out: 01:30 PM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Center Type Of Visit: Annual Comp Full Announced/Unannounced: Unannounced The purpose of today’s visit was to monitor for all applicable Child Care Requirements. The last Annual Compliance Visit was conducted on July 18, 2023. The center currently operates with a Five Star Child Care License that was issued on July 24, 2020. Kaye Adkins, Licensing Supervisor, accompanied me during today’s visit. The North Carolina Secretary of State website was used to check the status of the corporation. The facility’s owner is current/active. The director was present and assisted me during the visit. She accompanied me on a walk-through of the facility where attendance was documented, and observations made. Children were observed participating in indoor and outdoor play. The last sanitation inspection was completed June 18, 2024, with a “Superior” classification. The last fire inspection was conducted June 24, 2024, and the facility was approved for daytime care only. During today’s visit, a full assessment of applicable Child Care Requirements was conducted. The following violations were cited: Violation Number Comment Rule 601 Refrigerator(s) did not maintain a temperature of 45 degrees F. or below. The thermometers in the refrigerators in the kitchen, space 102A and space 102B displayed temperatures exceeding 45 degrees. 15A NCAC 18A .2806(j)(2) 842 A drug or medication was administered without written authorization and/or instructions from a child's parent or authorized health professional. Two children in space 109 had sunscreen but did not have permission forms for administering. 10A NCAC 09 .0803(1)(a & b) 844 Prescribed medicine was not in original labeled container or accompanied by signed and dated written instructions from prescribing physician or health care professional. In space 102B there was Nystatin ointment for one child that was not in the original packaging with the prescription label. .0803(2)(a) In order to comply with the NC Laws and Rules any violations cited today must be corrected immediately. A compliance letter must be sent to me by July 26, 2024. The letter must address each violation and explain how it has been corrected. Please send this to caroline.sykes@dhhs.nc.gov and include the following: -Facility name -Facility ID number -Each item number TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE During today’s visit a violation was cited regarding medication permission slips. Technical assistance was provided to the director regarding required information for permission slips. One prescription medication was not in the original container with the prescription label. Reminder: Prescription medications must be in the original labeled container and include the child’s name, date, doctor’s name and instructions for administering the medication. A violation was also cited regarding refrigerator temperatures. It is important that refrigerator temperatures do not exceed 45 degrees to ensure food safety. I recommend monitoring the refrigerator temperature on a routine basis. You were provided an opportunity to ask questions regarding interpretation and implementation of all childcare requirements. Childcare licensing rules and regulations are established to ensure a safe and healthy environment for children in care. Therefore, it is important for you to be knowledgeable of all of the licensing requirements that apply to your program. It is your responsibility to maintain compliance with all of the applicable laws and rules at all times. The best way for you to make sure that you are meeting all requirements is to periodically review the childcare law and rules.
