Name of Operation: WHITE PLAINS CHILDREN'S CENTER Facility ID: 9255200 Consultant: ANTIONETTE WILLIAMS Operation Type: Center Case Number: Visit Date: 2/22/2024 Number Present: 49 Completed Date: 2/22/2024 Age: From 1 To 5 Total Minutes: 165 Time In: 10:00 AM Time Out: 12:45 PM Time In: Time Out: List to Use: Center Type Of Visit: Annual Comp Full Announced/Unannounced: Unannounced The purpose of today’s visit was to monitor your program for compliance with applicable child care requirements for an annual compliance visit. Your program currently operates with a Five-star license. Today’s visit was conducted with you, Nicole Butters, Center Director. You visited each child care area with me. I monitored all classrooms in use for compliance with staff/child ratios, supervision, capacity, group size and staff interaction/discipline. Children participated in outdoor play, group art activities, and prepared for lunch. Staff assisted children with materials, met their developmental needs, and facilitated daily activities. The last annual compliance visit was 4/6/23. Information regarding compliance was documented on a checklist. All inspections, drills, and program records complied. The facility was monitored for health and safety requirements. The program requirements, along with equipment and furnishings were also observed. A sampling of children’s records and staff files was also monitored. Information was documented on the staff and training worksheet and children’s records form. One violation regarding children medication authorization was documented. The facility does not provide transportation. The owner of this facility is listed as current/active with the NC Secretary of State. Violation Number Comment Rule 1882 Medication authorization, giving the caregiver standing authorization did not meet the specifications in rule. Standing authorization to administer medication for a child with allergies expired January 2024 for two children. .0803(6)(a-i); .0803(7)(a-g); .0803(8)(a-d) Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. Any violation(s) documented may impact the compliance history score. The violation(s) documented must be corrected immediately. On or before 3/7/2024, I must receive a written, dated, and signed compliance letter that describes accurately and in detail how and when the violations were corrected. Please be aware any information submitted by you is legal documentation. If it is determined the information provided in the letter is not true, this may be considered falsification of information. If sufficient information is not received by the due date, a follow-up visit will be conducted. You explained this differs from the Wake County requirements. Today you discussed a plan to get this corrected with the Director of Special Education. RATED LICENSE: Today we discussed coupling your next annual compliance visit with a rated license visit. We discussed your interest in a possible planning year rated license assessment. You stated you would let me know if you want to move forward. Updates/Resources: Today I discussed information regarding Clean Classrooms for Carolina Kids program to identify and eliminate exposure to lead and asbestos hazards in child care. You may be able to take advantage of the program. Visit cleanwaterforuskids.org/Carolina to sign up and get more information. Funding may be available to assist programs needing abatement. Be sure to visit DCDEE website and access the What’s New section for the newest child care rules that were effective January 1, 2024. You may visit MOODLE and complete training for the new child care requirements effective January 1, 2024.
