Currently this center operates with a Four-Star Family Child Care Home License, issued October 18, 2017, earning two (2) points in Program Standards, seven (7) points in the Education Component, and one (1) Quality point. D. Gatling, the Operator/owner of this family child care home was present and assisted with the visit. A walkthrough of the home was completed today. Fire drills, shelter in place/lock down drills, and playground inspections were all current. The last annual compliance visit was completed on February 13, 2025. Four (4) children ranging in ages one (2) to three (3) years old were present and were observed in free play and teacher directed activities. All interactions between the provider and the children were warm and nurturing. I used the Annual Compliance Monitoring Checklist for Family Child Care Homes and the Family Child Care Home Item Number Listing (DCD 0357) as a basic monitoring tool to assess compliance with all applicable child care requirements pertinent to this facility. Please remember the entire home is licensed for child care and must meet the applicable child care requirements. Although you designated space to be used for child care in a specified section of your home, the license is issued for the entire location. Any monitoring visit conducted may include spaces other than those you designated for child care One (1) violation of child care requirements were observed on today’s visit. Violation Number Comment Rule 706 Corrosive agents, pesticides, bleaches, detergents, cleansers, polishes, and products under pressure in an aerosol dispenser and any substance that may be hazardous to a child if ingested, inhaled, or handled were not kept in locked storage when children were in care. One jug of Pine Sol cleaner, Two small bottles of Fabuloso cleaner, One bottle of bleach, one bottle of bleach spray, and one bottle of Ammonia were observed in the tub, in the restroom used by children in care. .1719 (a)(7) Child Care Licensing Requirements are established to ensure a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate environment for all child care facilities. Therefore, it is important for you to be knowledgeable of all licensing requirements that apply for your facility. Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy five percent. It is your responsibility to maintain compliance with the applicable laws and rules; always whether they have been monitored or specifically discussed with you in the past. The best way for you to ensure that you are meeting all requirements is to periodically review the childcare laws and rules on the Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE) website. Any violation(s) documented may impact the compliance history score. The violation(s) documented were corrected immediately. OWNER STATUS/CONTACT INFORMATION You, D. Gatling, are listed as the Sole Proprietor on the Family Child Care Home’s License and you stated during today’s visit, this ownership remains the same. Prior to changing the facility name and/or ownership (i.e., forming a corporation), please contact me to discuss procedures. Failure to comply may affect your Family Child Care Home License. You verified the mailing address, phone number, and email address listed on the facility profile are correct. Please contact me if changes occur to ensure information is updated in the system. HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS You stated your husband F. Gatling resides in the home. If there are changes in your household, please contact me. If there are changes in your household, please contact me and if anyone moves into your residence, please ensure they complete the Criminal Background Check (CBC) process and have a valid qualification letter on file prior to moving in the Family Child Care Home (FCCH). TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS You stated you do not provide transportation to children enrolled in your facility. COMPLIANCE HISTORY Prior to today’s visit, the facility has earned a Compliance History score of 100% over an 18 - month time- period. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE/CONSULTATION HAZARDOUS ITEM STORAGE Observed in the restroom used by children in care, in the tub, was one (1) jug of Pine Sol cleaner, two (2) small bottles of Fabuloso cleaner, one (1) jug of bleach, one (1) bleach spray, and one (1) bottle of ammonia. The provider corrected this violation during the visit. QRIS/STAR RATED LICENSE We discussed the different pathway options for the new QRIS system. You decided to complete Pathway 2-Classroom and Instructional Quality for FCCH. We completed an in-depth review of the forms and requirements specific to Pathway 2 and you were given the opportunity to ask questions.
