Currently your center operates with a Notice of compliance issued on May 26, 2017. The last annual compliance visit was completed on March 8, 2023. The last sanitation inspection completed was on September 26, 2022, with a “superior” classification. The sanitation is expired as of September 26, 2023. The last fire inspection was completed June 28, 2023 and approved for daytime care only. Fire, lock-down and playground inspections were observed and were all current. Today’s visit was conducted with you, R. Casper, administrator. You were notified of the purpose of the visit upon my arrival, and you were available for consultation at the conclusion of the visit. Twenty-seven (27) children were present. Children were observed participating in small group activities, free choice play, and group time. All interactions between the staff and children were warm and nurturing. The following requirements were monitored during today's visit: Staff/Child Ratio, Supervision, Specialized trainings, Storage of Hazardous Products, Storage of Medication, Adequate/Approved Space, General Safety, Staff Records, Program Records, License Posted and Permit Restrictions. I used a checklist as a basic monitoring tool to assess compliance with all applicable child care requirements pertinent to your program. At the completion of the visit, a computer-generated visit summary was reviewed, and a copy was left with you. Any violations observed today were discussed with you and documented on the visit summary report reviewed with you at the end of the visit. The following violations of child care requirements were documented today. Violation Number Comment Rule 104 Center has not passed required sanitation inspection and received an approved or superior rating. The sanitation inspection expired on September 26, 2023. A new sanitation inspection was not completed before the previous inspection expired. 10A NCAC 09 .0304(b) 840 All corrosive agents, pesticides, bleaches, detergents, cleansers, polishes, any product which is under pressure in an aerosol dispenser, and any substance which may be hazardous to a child if ingested, inhaled, or handled were not stored in a locked room or cabinet. One (1) aerosol can of Lysol was observed in an unlocked closet. .2820(b) Child Care Licensing Requirements are established to ensure a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate environment for all child care facilities. Therefore, it is important for you to be knowledgeable of all licensing requirements that apply for your facility. Child Care programs are expected to achieve and maintain compliance at all times and are required by NC GS 110-90(4) (d) to achieve and maintain an eighteen-month compliance history score of at least seventy-five percent. It is your responsibility to maintain compliance with the applicable laws and rules; always whether they have been monitored or specifically discussed with you in the past. The best way for you to ensure that you are meeting all requirements is to periodically review the childcare laws and rules on the Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE) website. Any violation(s) documented may impact the compliance history score. The violation(s) documented must be corrected immediately. On or before October 24, 2023, I must receive a written, dated, and signed compliance letter that describes accurately and in detail, how and when the violations were corrected. Please be aware any information submitted by you is accurate documentation. If any information provided in the letter is not accurate, this may be considered falsification of information. If sufficient information is not received by the due date, a follow-up visit will be conducted. COMPLIANCE HISTORY Prior to today's visit, this facility has maintained an 18-month compliance score of 97%. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE/CONSULTATION ANNUAL INSPECTIONS The current sanitation inspection expired on September 6, 2023. You stated the inspector usually comes out when it is time for the inspection to be completed. You contacted the inspector during the visit and you stated you were told the inspection will be completed as soon as the inspector can come out to complete it. All sanitation inspections are required to be completed yearly before the expiration date of the previous inspection. STORAGE OF HAZARDOUS ITEMS In space 2, K-4, one (1) can of Lysol spray was observed in an unlocked closet. Any product under pressure in aerosol dispenser must be stored in locked storage. The closet was locked during the visit.
