Chanikqua Stubbs, director assisted me with the visit. Your program currently operates with a three – star license issued October 26, 2022, earning (5) points in the education component, (2) points in the program standards component (meets enhanced space) and 1 quality point for meeting the programmatic option. The following was change from the hand-written visit summary left with you during your 4/28/26, visit: Number Present: was changed from 12 to 9 The sanitation inspection was completed on March 19, 2026, with an “Approved” classification. The last fire inspection was conducted on March 3, 2025, and was approved for daytime care only. The center's compliance history was reviewed with the operator. The program’s compliance history was 97% as of 4/28/26. I visited each indoor and outdoor space. The children were observed during free play activities. Infants were cared for in a nurturing caring manner. Infant safe sleep checks were documented. The breakfast consisted of cereal, sliced peaches, and milk. Due to Regulatory issues a handwritten summary was given to you and signed by you on 4/28/26. Once Regulatory was operational a computer-generated copy was emailed to you on 4/29/26. The following violations were cited during today's visit: Violation Number Comment Rule 106 Operator has not scheduled and obtained a fire inspection within 12 months of the previous inspection. Operator did not submit the original approved report to DCDEE within one week of the inspection visit on a form provided by the Division. Your last fire inspection is dated 3/3/25. 10A NCAC 09 .0304(a) 526 Menus for all meals and snacks were not current or posted where easily seen by parents and cook. Technical Assistance – Playground Maintenance & Age Appropriate Materials During today’s visit, technical assistance was provided to support the center in strengthening its ongoing health and safety practices related to playground maintenance. Playground Equipment – Paint Touch Ups & Monitoring We discussed the importance of maintaining playground equipment through routine visual checks and scheduled upkeep. The center is encouraged to incorporate quarterly paint touch ups into its existing playground maintenance plan to help prevent rust, peeling, and surface deterioration over time. Adding this item to the regular playground inspection checklist can support consistent monitoring and timely follow up, ensuring equipment remains in good condition and aligned with North Carolina Child Care Rules regarding safe outdoor environments. Activities All developmentally appropriate materials should always be made assessable to all the children throughout the day. For children under three years of age, hands-on experiences, including familiar and new activities, must be provided to enable the infant or toddler to learn about himself and the world both indoors and outdoors. When caring for children under 3years of age, developmentally appropriate toys and activities for each child must be provided to promote the child’s emotional and social development, health and physical development, approaches to play and learning, language development, and communication and cognitive development, including: (A) books; (B) blocks; (C) dolls; (D) pretend play materials; (E) musical toys (F) sensory toys; and (G) fine motor toys; Opportunities for music and rhythm, science and nature, and sand and water play should be offered at least weekly, indoors or outdoors. - Materials should be kept in a space where related equipment and materials and should be made available to the children on a daily basis; - Make sure to offer enough toys to allow all children to use them at the same time during the day and to allow for a range of choices, - On a daily basis provide developmentally appropriate activities that support health and physical development. Open areas allow freedom of movement. - Include hands-on experiences, both familiar and new activities, enable infant or toddler to learn about himself and the world both indoors and outdoors. When caring for children under 3years of age, developmentally appropriate toys and activities for each child must be provided to promote the child’s emotional and social development, health and physical development, approaches to play and learning, language development, and communication and cognitive development, including: (A) books; (B) blocks; (C) dolls; (D) pretend play materials; (E) musical toys (F) sensory toys; and (G) fine motor toys; Opportunities for music and rhythm, science and nature, and sand and water play should be offered at least weekly, indoors or outdoors. - Materials should be kept in a space where related equipment and materials and should be made available to the children on a daily basis; - Make sure to offer enough toys to allow all children to use them at the same time during the day and to allow for a range of choices, - On a daily basis provide developmentally appropriate activities that support health and physical development. Open areas allow freedom of movement. - Include hands-on experiences, both familiar and new activities, enable infant or toddler to learn about himself and the world both indoors and outdoors.
