I asked him if he was tired and having a hard day. The child slightly nodded. The more I talked to him, he slowly quit crying. I got up to finish the walk through of the playground. While walking around the playground, I observed the child crying again. The child still stood in the same spot while Nikki Brigance, caregiver, and Kelsi were standing beside him talking to each other. Nikki went in to get coats for the children that had them. The coats were laid out on a bench to get if they wanted one. The child did not have one. He had on a long sleeve shirt, pants and crocs with no socks and looked to be cold. It was 55 degrees outside, but the wind was blowing, and the child was standing under the shade structure. I asked if he had a coat in the pile, and staff stated he did not. I asked if they had an extra one, so Kelsi went inside to look. The child had snot running down into his mouth and I asked if they had a tissue to wipe his nose. Kelsi was able to get a tissue for the child. I asked if they just let him cry and they stated that he has hard days often and usually does not want to be messed, he will usually sooth himself. This was the child's first day back this week. .
