5 CSR 25-500.182 · 5 CSR 25-500.182 Child Care Program (1) (A) 1. states: Caregivers shall not leave any child without competent supervision.
A child was left without competent supervision as evidenced by A child was left without competent supervision as evidenced by Anne Jones, provider self reported that on June 25th she had left the building approx. at 1:00 pm and all staff were in there rooms. However, when she returned at approx. 2:10 pm Ms. Jones realized that caregiver Kayden Walkers vehicle was gone. Ms. Jones went into the prek room and caregiver Kayden Walker was not present there were 9 children ages 4 to 9 years old alone laying on their cots. Ms. Jones asked the children if they knew where Kayden was and they did not. Ms. Jones asked the other staff if they knew where Kayden was or that she had left the building and they did not know. The children were unharmed but Kayden Walker did not notify anyone that she was leaving the premises and left all 9 children alone without supervision. The provider stated that if Kayden would have told the person left in charge, her or another caregiver they could have moved things around to have all children supervised and she could have left if needed. The following day provider Anne Jones received a text from caregiver Kayden stating that she was sorry for leaving and I realized that was probably wrong. Provider Anne Jones stated that Kayden no longer works for the facility.
