R 400.8125 · R 400.8125 Staff; volunteer; requirements. (1) All staff and volunteers shall provide appropriate care and supervision of children at all times.

On 1/10/22 during my unannounced onsite inspection, Ms. Angela Ashford momentarily left 12 school-aged child care children alone in the cafeteria without another child care staff member being present on three sperate occasions while she went to the entrance of the school building to address another child care parent arriving to pick up their child from care. On each occasion, the latchkey room was not in compliance of the child care staff member to child ratio requirement of 1:18 as there was no child care staff member present with the children in the latchkey room when Ms. Ashford left.

(3) In each room or well-defined space, the maximum group size and ratio of caregivers to children, including children related to a staff member or the licensee, shall be the following: (e) For school-agers, there shall be 1 caregiver for 18 children.

I On 12/2/21 and 1/10/22, The center failed to maintain the required child care staff member to child ratio when Ms. Ashford, program director momentarily left the children alone in the latchkey room with no child care staff member being present to attend to child care parents coming to the school building.
