On 02/23/2021, the department received a complaint regarding a child who was attending an unlicensed child care. However, it was later determined that the child care was licensed, and the provider was Eva Jarema. On 03/17/2021, I spoke with Ms. Jarema regarding the complaint. She stated that Child A has been attending her child care since he was around18 months. She stated that Child A has been dealing with constipation issues since he was around 2 years old when his mother forced him to start potty training but he was not ready to and he has had trouble with it ever since. She stated that he does not go the bathroom very often during the day and he has never had a bowel movement in the toilet for her. She stated she has not had to put him on the changing table in over a year because he is potty trained nor has she ever seen any blood in his stool or in his underwear. Ms. Jarema stated that Child A has been a very emotional child since he's been attending her child care. He only communicated by crying. She stated she has spoken to his mother about getting him into occupational therapy. 2 Ms. Jarema stated she has no idea who Child A would be talking about regarding monsters at her home. He has never mentioned anything about monsters to her. She explained that no one is around him at her home besides the children and her husband. Her husband is at work most of the time. She stated that her husband only sees the children in passing most of the time and he does not have much interaction with the children. He does not change them, nor does he provide for their care. On 04/22/2021, I spoke to Child A and B's Mother regarding the complaint. She stated that when her son had a bowel movement, she noticed that there was a little blood in his underwear afterwards. She took him to his doctor because she wasn't sure if that was normal or not. She stated that his doctor checked him over and determined that everything was fine. She did not tell her doctor that she had concerns with the child care provider, but his doctor took it upon herself the make a report and then things spiraled out of control with it being reported to Department of Health and Human Services and Child Care Licensing. She stated that she was a little upset about it but at the same time she appreciated that his doctor is making every attempt to protect children. I asked her if she or her son had any concerns with the provider or anyone in the home as the complaint stated that her son did not want to go to child care because there were monsters there. She stated that it is normal for her son say that monsters are somewhere. He says that there's monsters at home, at his grandma's, and everywhere. Child A and B's Mother stated that her son loves going to child care and she in no way meant for this to snowball into accusations that Mrs. Jarema or her husband were in anyway inappropriate with her son. On 04/22/2021. Child C's Mother reported that she is Mrs. Jarema's neighbor, and her daughter has been attending her child care on and off since she was 3 years old. She has never had any issues or concerns with the provider. Child D and E's Mother stated her children are doing fine. She has no issues or complaints with the provider or the care that they are receiving.
