On October 29, 2021, I received an updated application, supplemental application, Notification of Change in Status Form, and written letters from both Melanie Shuler and ~ ~ asking to from the child care license as a licensee because e had moverde omut oov t"ec i care home effective October 25, 2021. Ms. Shuler indicated that Ms. Shuler was no longer going to be employed for the child care home and removed him from the Child Care Background Check System that same week. I sent Judy Hogle from our central office in Lansing, an email with the supporting documents requesting that she remove from the child care license. She stated that she did not have the ability to remove him from the licensee screen in our system, but that it would be taken care of. On February 2, 2022, I received an email from Cheryl Gandhi, Departmental Analyst, in Lansing to show that had used Ms. Shuler's home address as his primary residence when he was arrested and charged with three counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC) in the first degree with a minor under thirteen years of age. On February 2, 2022, I made an unscheduled inspection to the child care home and spoke to Ms. Shuler about the allegation. Ms. Shuler denied was residing in the child care home or been employed as a child ctahrea RtsWtaa fmf em er since October 29, 2021. She said he was living with his sister in Michigan, but had not yet changed his mailing address but planned to change it when it was time to renew his driver's license with the Secretary of State. She acknowledged that ■ does occasionally visit the child care home after child care hours to care for their puppies and chickens in the back barn. She explained that they are still married, and he is employed full-time during the day. He has only stopped by the child care home one time during child care hours when he had to pick up something for work. Child C's Mother did not even know that Ms. Shuler was married. Child G's Mother has only seen in the home one time and it was Sunday, January 9, 2022, when the child care home was not open. Child G was there with his mother to meet Ms. Shuler before he started care on January 10, 2022.
