On 03/25/2022 I sent an e-mail to Program Director, Jennifer Lockman, explaining the allegation that Child A's Mother was not notified when Child A was too sick to remain in the group. Ms. Jennifer Lockman responded by e-mail on 03/29/2022. She stated that on Wednesday, 03/09/2022, Child Care Staff Member, Ashlynn Baughman, expressed concern to her co-workers that Child A should not be allowed to remain at the center as he was congested, wouldn't eat his lunch and cried for forty-five minutes after his nap. Child A stayed home on Monday, 03/07/2022 and Tuesday, 03/08/2022 because he was sick. Child A's Mother told Child Care Staff Members to call her if Child A was too sick to remain at the center. Lead Caregiver in the toddler room, Grace Lockman, told Ms. Baughman to wait a half an hour after nap to see if Child A felt better before calling Child A's Mother. Ms. Grace Lockman told Ms. Jennifer Lockman that she felt Child A slept okay even though he was a little congested. Child A often does not eat a lot of lunch and was probably crying because he was hungry. Child A got up from his nap and ate a snack. Once he ate his snack he calmed down and was fine for the rest of the afternoon. I made an unannounced on-site inspection on 04/29/2022 at approximately 12:00 PM. I interviewed Program Director, Jennifer Lockman and Child Care Staff Members, Amelia Lockman, Grace Lockman and Ashlynn Baughman. Ms. Jennifer Lockman explained that Child Care Staff Member, Ashlynn Baughman is a new employee who has an infant at home. Ms. Baughman told Ms. Lockman that if there was a sick child at the child care facility she would have to go home, as she doesn't want to get her baby sick. Ms. Baughman went home around 3:15PM on 03/09/2022 because Child A was allowed to remain at the child care center even though she felt that he was too sick. Amelia Lockman explained that she worked mainly in the toddler room but would help in other classrooms as needed. Ms. Amelia Lockman stated that Child A did not come to the child care center Monday, 03/07/2022 and Tuesday, 03/08/2022. Child A returned to the center on Wednesday, 03/09/2022. Child A's Mother told staff members that if Child A seemed too sick to remain at the child care, they could call her and she would come pick him up. Ms. Amelia Lockman stated that Child A woke up from his nap and was crying. This is not unusual behavior for Child A. Child Care Staff Member, Ashlynn Baughman told Ms. Amelia Lockman that she felt Child A's Mother should be called and Child A should go home. Ms. Amelia Lockman told Ms. Baughman that they should wait before calling Child A's Mother to see how Child A does after his snack. Ms. Amelia Lockman stated that she then went to change diapers. While she was gone Ms. Baughman approached Grace Lockman. Ms. Baughman told Ms. Grace Lockman that she felt Child A's Mother should be contacted and Child A should be sent home. Ms. Amelia Lockman explained that Ms. Baughman has stated that she feels like a bad mother because she has an infant at home who she already made sick back in December 2021. Ms. Baughman 3 stated she wanted to go home, as Child A was not sent home. Ms. Amelia Lockman stated that Ms. Grace Lockman covered Ms. Baughman's shift for the remainder of the day. Ms. Baughman had the next day off and when she returned to work, she seemed okay. Ms. Baughman hasn't complained about sick children at the center since. Grace Lockman, stated that Child A stayed home on Monday, and Tuesday 03/07/2022 and 03/08/2022. Child A returned Wednesday, 03/09/2022.
