On 1/3/2025, during nap time, I observed children 12 to 24 months of age resting or sleeping alone in approved cribs, play yard or cots. Licensee, Ms. Warren said Child Care Staff Members are trained to know when children fall asleep in sleeping equipment, to place the child cots, cribs, or play yard, to rest.

During my onsite inspection on 1/3/2025, I did not observe any children under the age of 24 months sleeping in swings. Licensee, Ms. Warren said Child Care Staff Members do not allow children to sleep in swings and are placed in their crib or play yard as soon as they fall asleep.

On 1/3/2025, during nap time, I observed six children in care transitioning to sleep equipment. I observed each child ages 12 months to 24 months of age resting or sleeping alone in approved crib, play yard or cot, sufficient for the 2 LANDMARK BUILDING • 105 W. ALLEGAN STREET • LANSING, MICHIGAN 48933 Michigan.gov/MiLEAP child's length, size, and movement. I observed three additional unoccupied cots, Ms. Warren pointed out to me, that were kept in a storage space in the kitchen, located between the refrigerator and the kitchen wall.

On 1/3/2024, during my on-site inspection, I observed the posted daily schedule which included indoor and outdoor play, (except during inclement or extreme weather). Ms. Warren stated currently winter weather conditions have the children are indoors most times. If indoors, child care staff members encourage the children to participate activities involving moving their large muscles such as dancing, musical chairs, head shoulders, knees and toes, and running in place.

I observed the Play yard's frame was not bent. The play yard's frame structure was observed to wobble when handled, but firm and in good working condition for sleeping equipment. Ms. Warren purchased a replacement for the well-worn playpen on 1/5/2025.

During my onsite observation, I observed Licensee, Ms. Warren, CCSM 1 and CCSM, 2 use developmentally appropriate positive methods discipline through redirection, 3 LANDMARK BUILDING • 105 W. ALLEGAN STREET • LANSING, MICHIGAN 48933 Michigan.gov/MiLEAP that encouraged child to regulate their self-control, self- direction, and cooperation. Licensee Paulette Warren stated CCSMs redirect children in need of discipline by suggesting opportunities and options for the children to choose. Licensee, Paulette Warren, denied children are placed in sleep equipment as a form of discipline.
