On 4/18/2022, I spoke with Child A's Mother. She indicated that she had taken Child A to the ENT but they would not remove the rock from Child A's ear without going into surgery and that is the next step. Child A's Mother stated that on 4/12/2022 she went to pick up Child A from school. When she got there, he said, "I have a rock in my ear." When she asked Child A how it happened, he said that Child B put it in his ear when they were out at recess. Child A said he told the teacher when he woke up from his rest but then it was time to go home. He is not in pain and it does not seem to bother him. Child A's Mother has no concerns with the supervision at school. I completed an onsite inspection at the child care facility on 4/18/2022. During that time, I spoke with program director Jayne Silvers and child care staff members Linda Sower and Brandy Taylor. Ms. Silvers showed me the footage they have of the playground on their security cameras. The camera is pretty zoomed out, so you are not able to see the exact actions of each child. Ms. Silvers stated that she tried to zoom in and out. She never saw Child A and Child B by one another. At the first recess there was five adults out on the playground with the children. Child A played on the tricycles the entire time. 2 Child B played on the playground. During the second recess Child A played football out in the field and Child B was on the swing set. Child A's Mother emailed Ms. Silvers to let her know about the rock being stuck in Child A's ear. The email stated that they were on their way to the emergency room with Child A because he said Child B placed a rock in his ear. Child A told Ms. Brandy but they she assumed Ms. Silvers was not informed of this information. Ms. Sowers stated that she was outside at both recesses on 4/12/2022. At no time did she see Child A and Child B playing together. Child A advocates for himself and will notify teachers if something goes wrong with another student and himself, but he never mentioned the rock. She never noticed him even by the rocks on the playground. The next day she asked Child A how he got the rock in his ear. Child A told her that Child B threw sand and when he got in his car he pushed it in further. On the day I was at the child care facility, Ms. Sowers stated that Child A had gotten his finger stuck in a toy by putting in a place in the toy that he was not supposed to; he is a very curious child. Ms. Brandy stated that Child A told her that he had a rock in his ear, he was on the carpet, and he fell down. He said that Child B got on top of him and put the rock in his ear. She stated that Child B is the target of the group because he is the youngest and a bit more immature. She stated that all the kids will blame everything on him and that everything is his fault.
