On 02/07/2022 I conducted an unannounced on-site inspection to the licensed child care home. The licensee, Maribeth Vlasman, was present with 1 child care staff member and 10 children in care. I explained the allegations to her, and she denied children are left during nap time or that she calls them names. Ms. Vlasman provided me with her child care staff member (CCSM) sign in and out documentation and she regularly has two child care staff members present in the home. On this day the second CCSM had left when this consultant arrived, and another one was scheduled to replace her. Ms. Vlasman said she is always present during her child care hours. Two of her CCSMs do not drive themselves to work so they have no way to leave the child care home during their work hours. Ms. Vlasman said she has no idea the reason someone would believe she speaks negatively to children in care. She has not had any issues with parents, staff, or anyone else that would suggest a concern with the care she provides to children. While on-site I briefly spoke with Jennifer Jacobs, CCSM, who heard the conversation I had with Ms. Vlasman and she supported her denial of the allegations. On 02/18/2022 I spoke with Jennifer Jacobs by telephone. She again denied children are not supervised during nap time or that the licensee leaves the home. She denied they speak to children in a negative manner. I left a telephone message for Kenndi Gardner, CCSM, on this date requesting contact with her. Ms. Vlasman stated that Ms. Gardner recently ended her employment as a CCSM. Ms. Gardner has not contacted me regarding this investigation. I spoke with Child A's Mother and Child C's Mother's on this date. Both of them denied ever seeing their children at nap time not being supervised or without staff. Each one said there is a Ring doorbell at the child care home that shows the arrivals and departures, staff do not leave and the licensee does not leave during child care hours. Each mother said their child receives attention and quality care at Ms. Vlasman's home. On 02/22/2022 I spoke with Child B's Mother by telephone. She has not had any concerns with the staff or supervision at nap time. She has never had any concerns with how children are spoke to while in care. She said her child receives great from Ms. Vlasman and her staff. 3
