On 06/02/2021, MHM2 (male, 12 years) bit Child F (male, 6 years), leaving a bite mark on Child F's right forearm. It was unknown where Ms. Mathews was at the time of the incident and was reported that MHM2 is aggressive. Note: in a previous special investigation with Ms. Mathews (2018D1080004) it was noted that MHM2 has Autism Spectrum Disorder and is nonverbal. Ms. Mathews confirmed that in this investigation. Ms. Mathews reported that last Wednesday (06/02/2021) she took Child F in the house after getting him off the bus. He wanted popcorn for snack, so she made him some. Child F and MHM2 were on the couch and love seat in the living room. MHM2 2 indicated that he wanted popcorn, so Ms. Mathews started to turn to the kitchen and MHM2 jumped up and bit Child F on the arm. Ms. Mathews was less than 4 feet away from the children and it happened too quickly for her to intervene. She denied that MHM2 has ever had issues with Child F or that he has ever bitten anyone. Ms. Mathews denied that the bite broke Child F's skin or that he needed medical treatment. She denied that his mother was upset about the incident. Child F's Mother reported that Ms. Mathews told her about the incident. Ms. Mathews was giving Child F some popcorn and MHM2 wanted some. She turned to go to the kitchen to make more, and MHM2 bit Child F. They were all in the living room and Ms. Mathews was turning to go to the kitchen. Child F's Mother denied that it broke the skin or that MHM2 has ever been aggressive with Child F before. Child F's Mother denied knowing if there are any other children enrolled in care. Child F will be attending care for the rest of this week but then Ms. Mathews is closing her license. I left a message for Child G and H's Mother, requesting a return phone call. As of the writing of this report, she has not returned my call.
