On 05/20/2022, Ms. Jackie Edmondson left a voicemail message on my phone reporting that there had been an incident involving a missing child. Ms. Edmondson mailed an incident report on the same date. I was on annual leave and did not receive the message until after I returned to work on 05/31/2022. On 06/08/2022, I completed an onsite inspection. I interviewed Ms. Edmondson and U Minor Household Member 1 (MHM1). Ms. Edmondson reported that MHM1 is years old and he helps out with caring for child care children quite a bit. On 05/20/2022, Ms. Edmondson and MHM1 were in the backyard and Ms. Edmondson decided to go inside to begin preparing lunch. MHM1 was going to take the child care children for a ride in the wagon. Ms. Edmondson reported that she was in the house for approximately three minutes. When she went back outside, she observed 2 that there were only three children by MHM1, and Child A was missing. Ms. Edmondson and MHM1 looked around the yard for Child A and when they could not find him, she asked a neighbor if she had seen Child A. The neighbor denied seeing Child A. Ms. Edmondson then contacted law enforcement and Child A's Mother to report that that Child A was missing. A few minutes later, Child A was found sleeping in a saucer swing that is located in the fenced in yard of the property. MHM1 reported that on 05/20/2022, he and Ms. Edmondson were in the backyard with the child care children and Ms. Edmondson went into the house to prepare lunch. MHM1 reported that he usually prepares lunch, but on this day, Ms. Edmondson decided that she would do it. While Ms. Edmondson was inside, MHM1 had gone to the garage to get the wagon and he returned to put the children in the wagon to take them for a walk. Ms. Edmondson came back outside after being in the home for approximately two minutes, and she noticed that Child A was missing. MHM1 reported that everyone began looking for Child A. He reported that they were concerned that Child A had somehow gotten out of the gate. A few minutes later, Child A was found sleeping in the saucer on the swing set. On 07/15/2022, I interviewed Child A and Child B's (three-year-old, female) Mother. Child A and B's Mother reported that Child A and Child B have received care from Ms. Edmondson since January or February 2022. She reported that she has absolutely no concerns regarding the care that Ms. Edmondson provides to Child A and Child B. She stated that Ms. Edmondson is a wonderful child care provider and she considers Ms. Edmondson to be "very perfect" for this job. Child A and B's Mother reported that Ms. Edmondson is very knowledgeable about child care, and she is like a grandmother to Child A and Child B. On 07/15/2022, I interviewed Child C's (two-year-old, female) Mother. Child C has received care from Ms. Edmondson since January 2022. Child C's Mother reported that Ms. Edmondson is fantastic with Child C, and she does not have any concerns regarding supervision.
