We reviewed her staff hand washing policy and it meets licensing requirements. 3 From 2/28/22 to 3/2/22, seven child care staff members, one child care assistant and household member and caregiver Mr. Bates were interviewed. These staff members are both current and past staff members who worked between the years of 2016 and 2021. None of the staff members said they had touched a child inappropriately. All of the staff members said they had never witnessed anyone working at the child care touch a child inappropriately. The child care assistant said the same thing. The child care assistant also said she only works with direct supervision and is never alone with a child in care. Mr. Bates said he has never touched a child inappropriately or witnessed a staff member or assistant touch a child in care inappropriately. On 3/10/22, we discussed staff hand washing in more detail. All new staff are given on the job training on proper hand washing and on when they are required to wash hands. Erica role models the correct procedure on their first day and it is also discussed. Staff are also trained on child hand washing after diapering. If a child is developmentally ready and a staff member feels safe holding them up to the sink, soap and running water are used. If a child is not developmentally ready to be held up to the sink, a baby wipe is used while the child is still on the changing table.
