Program director, Julia Koumbassa, stated that she was not sure if children were using the same towel to dry their hands after hand washing. Staff member, Dan Hussong, stated staff and children use the terry cloth bath towel on top of the water cooler used for hand washing to dry their hands. When I asked Mr. Hussong about paper towel, he reached into a pocket at the top of the portable tent that contains the bucket used for toileting and pulled out a roll of paper towel. He stated that the paper towel is available to staff and children in addition to the bath towel. Staff member, Samantha Fox, stated that children sometime use the bath towel on top of the water cooler to dry their hands after hand washing. Ms. Fox stated that the towel is washed daily. Staff member, Maggie Fritz, stated that the bath towel that is used for drying hands is changed a couple of times a day. She stated that there are also paper towels available as well. During the onsite inspection I observed a terry cloth bath towel that was placed on top of the water cooler used for hand washing. The bath towel was observed to dirty. It appeared that it may have fallen onto the ground because there was dirt in certain areas and there were smudges of dirt in other areas. The paper towel that was kept 5 in the pocket at the top of the portable tent was not accessible to children because it was too high for them to reach on their own.
