The educator only had one shelf with books, few toys and some stuffed animals available for the children in the playroom. The rest of the child care materials were put away in closets. We discussed the regulations to set up the playroom area with more toys, manipulatives, drama and educational materials to provide the child care children with opportunities to have a free choice among a variety of activities or to play alone or with other children as desired by the child. This will also assist the educator and entertain the children during transitional moments in between activities; for example while the educator cleans up after lunch, changing diapers, etc.
