The educator had a four year old child in a high chair during this visit while two other children were playing on the floor. The educator stated that she places this child in the high chair to prevent the child from injuring her body since the child has a medical condition which causes her to be physically unstable at times and the child's speech is limited. We discussed the regulations that confining a child to high chair or any other piece of equipment for an extended period of time in lieu of supervision is prohibited. The educator removed the child from the high chair and her assistant attended to the child.
