Violation
In a visit to the program, an infant was observed sleeping in a 'bouncy seat' for under five minutes. It was observed that the infant had a blanket covering their legs while they slept in the 'bouncy seat'. When initially observed and identified by the EEC Licensor, the educator responsible for the students in the classroom continued to sit in a rocking chair and rock a child (who was awake) in their arms. The EEC licensor then explained to the educator that if a student falls asleep outside of the crib, the educator must stop what they are doing, and transition the student to the crib. The educator reported that "This is how they fall asleep, and then they are moved into the crib." With guidance, the educator placed the awake child who was in their arms into a "bouncy seat". They then picked up the sleeping child out of the bouncy seat. During this transition the sleeping child woke up and the educator held them and began rocking them in their arms. Programs serving infants must nap infants in an individual crib, portacrib, playpen or bassinet. Infants must be placed on a firm, flat, non-inclined sleep surface. Car seats and other sitting devices are not allowed for sleep.
