Violation
At the time of the visit, the following was observed: Students within the PreK classroom were washing their hands, one-by-one, in the bathroom across the hall. The certified teacher was in the bathroom with the students, this left an Assistant Teacher alone in the classroom. During this observation, the two teachers switched responsibilities and the Assistant Teacher began helping students in the bathroom across the hall, this left the certified teacher alone in ratio with twelve students and again left the Assistant Teacher responsible for supervision alone. Within the Toddler/Preschool Classroom it was observed that one teacher was alone with six students, the other teacher was across the hall in the bathroom with one student; this left the teacher over ratio in the classroom. It was observed that the Infant/Toddler classroom has a gate dividing the room in half. During Rest time, both educators in the classroom were sitting on the right side of the gate, while all students were sleeping on the left side of the gate. During the visit EEC informed the teachers within the Infant/Toddler room that they need to be on the side of the gate the students are on. The educators moved to the correct side of the gate. The program must have the number of educators necessary to: ensure adequate supervision of the group at all times. For purposes of calculating staff: child ratios, staff shall include only those EEC-qualified persons who are assigned to care for children for specific hours of the day.

The licensee must ensure that the physical facilities are safe, clean, in good repair and free from hazards and clutter. The licensee must monitor the environment daily to identify and remove or repair any hazards that may cause injury to children. The licensee must only use indoor and outdoor equipment, materials, furnishings, toys, and games that are appropriate to the ages, needs and developmental level of the children enrolled. They must be sturdy, safely constructed and installed and non-tippable. Educators must ensure that all hazardous objects, including but not limited to matches, lighters, toxic materials, sharp objects, plastic bags and purses are locked or inaccessible to children.

At the time of the visit, within the PreK classroom during rest time, the classroom was too dark to maintain safety within the classroom. The indoor space must be clean, safely maintained, well-ventilated and well-lit, of sufficient size for the children served, and must encourage play and learning. When speaking with the educators in the PreK classroom, they stated they were made aware that their classroom was too dark from the director, however they thought that they could still keep blankets on the windows with a little sunlight coming through. At the time of the visit, the Licensor had the educators remove the blankets from the windows. This was previously cited on 8/7/2024 within Visit #149634
