At the time of the visit, the following was observed: two students were permitted to leave the program to "help an elementary school teacher" within the elementary school. They left the program space by themselves, without an employee of the program. Students were permitted to walk to the bathroom alone, out of the program space and down the hall (if they took a bathroom pass off the table). The students were not supervised by and employee of the program. One student was drinking a cup of water when the program transitioned outside. The last educator in line shut the door, leaving one student inside without program staff for roughly ten second before reopening the door and walking back into the program to be with the student. Educators must exercise appropriate supervision of the children in their care. Educators must be positioned to maximize their ability to see and/or hear children in their care. Educators must not engage in any other activities or tasks that could unnecessarily divert their attention from supervising the children.
