During today’s visit the educator and children were engaged in outdoor play. Educator was asked if she had her first aid kit with her outside, which the educator responded she did not and had just returned from vacation. The educator was reminded that she is required to have her first aid kit with her at all times when she is outside with the children; which was discussed during her previous visit. A random review of children’s files was completed it was observed that one file had an enrollment packet completed that indicated Child Development paperwork however that child is not part of this system therefore educator should utilize enrollment packet used for private enrolled children, additionally the file did not have a physical on file. A second file was observed to not have an annual update. A third file was observed to not have annual update as well. Educator must review all files and complete children’s record checklist.

The pack and play where the (REDACTED) infant naps was observed to have a loose fitting sheet, a boppy pillow, and two soft toys. When educator was asked if that was how the infant slept, educator indicated that it was. The loose sheet, boppy pillow, and soft toys are all violations of EEC’s safe sleep policy. This is the educator's second safe sleep violation. The educator was previously cited for not following EEC's safe sleep policy during an investigation conducted in January of 2016, where the educator acknowledged napping a (REDACTED)with a blanket and napping a (REDACTED) in a swing. The second Safe sleep parent letter will be emailed to the educator to have parents of infants under 12 months read and sign. The safe sleep pledge will also be emailed for the educator to read and sign, and safe sleep policy will also be sent to the educator. Information on re-taking the safe sleep training will be sent to the educator. A follow up visit will be conducted once educator returns from her vacation.
