Suspected abuse involving a child care employee was not reported to the Division of Regulated Child Care as required. Law enforcement conducted an investigation at the child care center on 02/13/26. Staff members provided conflicting accounts of the incident, describing it as either a swat to the buttocks or a light tap to a child in the Leopard Classroom when the child would not lay on a nap mat. A parent contacted the Shepherdsville Police Department; however, the center did not report the incident to the Division of Regulated Child Care or another appropriate authority for further investigation. It should be noted that law enforcement did not identify evidence of abuse. 2.Suspected abuse involving a child care employee was not reported to the Division of Regulated Child Care as required. Staff members provided conflicting accounts regarding an allegation that a staff member slammed a child into a chair on 02/12/26 in the Leopard Classroom. Upon the surveyor exiting the bobcat room someone with a loud voice was heard saying “I said get back over here”; the surveyor sees a child come around a corner into her line of vision, then the tone of voice goes up and says “I mean now” at which time the child disappears back out of sight. As the surveyor follows where the voice was coming from, which was down a hallway at the least thirty (30) feet away, a group of children with a staff member was observed around the corner in the hallway and a classroom with the door propped open that contained children and a staff member. Upon interviewing, the staff member in the hallway and the staff member in the classroom they both denied they had used a loud voice with the children. Observation of the playground revealed a staff member telling children to “Come on” and when they did not go where directed the staff member began to grab them by the upper arm and move them toward the door. When the children did not continue toward the door, the staff member aggressively grabbed one child by the upper arm then with her teeth clinched together leaned into their face and said something; however, the surveyor could not hear what was said to the child. The child care center has a policy of locking the front door at approximately 9:45 a.m. to assure safety for the children; however, at the time of this incident at approximately 10:30 the front door was unlocked.
