The documentation verified that the staff person lived in the state of Florida in the last five (5) years. The staff’s file did not contain a completed out of state Child Abuse/Neglect Background Check (CAN). The surveyor did not observe the staff member working alone with children. Staff-in-charge stated that the the staff member had not worked alone with children at the child-care center. 2. Staff claim that they do not place children in highchairs for discipline; however, the three-year-old child mentioned was place in a highchair after throwing a fit. Staff also stated that they gave the child a sippy cup and a toy and that they used the highchair as a means to calm the child down.
