Observation of the family child care home on 11/3/15 revealed a one-year-old was present in the care of the provider at the time of survey. Observation of the level used for child care revealed two (2) separate staircases, both staircases accessible to children in care. Continued observation revealed one staircase consisted of a minimum of fourteen (14) steps leading upstairs to the kitchen and the other staircase consisted of seven (7) steps leading upstairs to the front entrance. Observation of both staircases revealed neither staircase was blocked. Interview with provider revealed she assumed the staircases did not need to be blocked as long as she kept the children in a gated room or in a room with a closed door.
