Although there were smoke detectors throughout the home, at least one of them chirped throughout the duration of the inspection, indicating a malfunction or low battery. The top step near the back door was made out of three (3) cinder blocks that sat atop of the second concrete step. The two (2) of the cinder blocks were busted; thus causing them to be unsafe as a step; 2. The fence between the provider's backyard and the backyard of the neighboring property was not in good repair. The upper pole of the chain link fence was bent downward to the ground and surrounded by vines and weeds. 3. There was a small opening in the weeds that created a child-sized entryway into a narrow space between the garage and the weed-covered fence. The area allowed for easy access of children, but not for adults. 4.There was rubbish, to include an aluminum can and several plastic bags on the ground within the outdoor play area.
