    591-1-1-.03(9) · Rule 591-1-1-.03(9) requires that staff shall not engage in, or allow children or other adults to engage in, activities that could be detrimental to a child’s health or well-being, such as but not limited to, horse play, rough play, wrestling, and picking up a child in a manner that could cause injury.

    During an incident investigation conducted on January 23, 2025, it was determined based on staff statements and interviews that on January 7, 2025, staff were aware a two-year-old child climbed up on a wardrobe in the classroom to grab a toy but failed to intervene. The child tipped over the wardrobe sustaining an injury to the bridge of the nose. Professional medical attention was required.

A two-year-old child climbed onto the unsecured wardrobe to grab a toy when it tipped over. The child sustained an injury to the bridge of their nose. Professional medical attention was required.

    During an investigation, it was determined that on December 5, 2023, a staff person engaged in rough play with the after school children when a five-year-old child sustained a serious leg injury. A staff person was seated in a chair with their back to the wall. The children took turns running to the staff person who gave them a poke and tickle and sent them back to do it again. As the children ran back and forth, a child fell on the five-year-old child’s leg. The child received professional medical treatment.
