591-1-1-.12(3) · Rule 591-1-1-.12(3) requires that equipment and furniture be placed so as to permit the children’s freedom of movement and to minimize danger of accident and collision.

During an investigation, it was determined that on January 2, 2024, a two-year-old child fell from the top of climbing equipment onto the bottom of the cubbies. The climbing equipment had been placed next to the cubbies during rest time but had not been moved prior to the child resuming play on the equipment. The equipment was not placed in a way to permit freedom of movement once the children were waking up from the nap and before the child began playing on the equipment in Classroom H-2L. As a result, the child sustained a forehead injury and received professional medical attention.
