During an investigation, it was determined that on August 9, 2022, a five-year-old child was left unattended on the center van for three to five minutes before being found during the second check of the vehicle after transportation from Rutland Middle School. The five-year-old child was loaded on the vehicle during routine afternoon school transportation from Bruce Elementary School when the child fell asleep and was not unloaded with other children when the vehicle arrived at the center to drop the children off for aftercare. The five-year-old child remained on the vehicle during the second route to Rutland Middle School. The driver exited the vehicle and left the child unattended for three to five minutes. The child was found when the second check of the vehicle was conducted. No medical attention was obtained.
