591-1-1-.03(9) · Rule 591-1-1-.03(9) requires that staff shall not engage in, or allow children or other adults to engage in, activities that could be detrimental to a child's health or well-being, such as but not limited to, horse play, rough play, wrestling, and picking up a child in a manner that could cause injury.
During an investigation, it was determined that on April 24, 2023, center staff failed to adequately intervene when one-year-old children were engaging in inappropriate play in the classroom, which resulted in a one- year-old child losing their footing, falling into a bookshelf, and sustaining a laceration near the right eye which required professional medical attention.

Children shall always be seated when eating and shall not be allowed to lie down or be put to sleep while food is present in their mouths.
