    591-1-1-.05(1) · Rule 591-1-1-.05(1) requires that animals shall be controlled to assure that proper sanitation of the premises is maintained, and animals are not a hazard to the children, personnel or visitors at the center. 2. No animals, such as but not limited to, pit bull dogs, ferrets, and poisonous snakes, which may have a vicious propensity, shall be permitted on the child care learning center premises at any time there are children on the premises. 3. Horses or other farm animals shall not be quartered on any property over which center staff exercises any control that is located within five hundred (500) feet of the building in which the center is located.

    During an investigation, it was determined that on March 11, 2024, at approximately 7:38 a.m., a local transportation service company arrived at the childcare center to drop off a group of children. A five-year-old child was bitten by a stray dog when exiting a transportation vehicle to go into the center. The stray dog was in the parking lot of the childcare facility when the incident occurred. The child required professional medical attention.
