    05-01 · Staff Ratio (Articles VIII.B, C, and XVIII.A, B)

At the time of inspection, the facility was found to be out of compliance with staff-to-child ratio requirements in the 2-year-old classroom. Twelve children were observed in care with only one teacher present, exceeding the minimum ratio requirement of 11:1. Technical assistance was provided to facility staff regarding proper ratio maintenance procedures and protocols for teacher breaks. The violation was corrected on-site when the assigned teacher returned to the classroom. According to the director, the teacher had left the classroom to use the restroom without requesting a floater to maintain proper supervision ratios during her absence. The facility shall ensure that adequate staff coverage is maintained at all times, requiring teachers to secure appropriate substitute supervision before leaving assigned classrooms to maintain compliance with mandated staff-to-child ratios
