12-02 · Facility Environment
During the renewal inspection the licensing specialist observed that some of the classrooms needs some repair and cleaning. The licensing specialist observed that there were some broken toys, and the handwashing area was not clean. According to the DCF CCF Handbook Section 3.1 A. All childcare facilities must be clean, in good repair, free from health and safety hazards and from evidence of, or presence of, vermin infestation. Indoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety and documented on a daily inspection log. Outdoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety. Any problems must be corrected before the play area is used by children. Documentation of the indoor play area inspection must be maintained for 12 months. B. It is the responsibility of the director/operator to ensure all areas and equipment of the facility are free from fire hazards, such as lint build up in heating and air vents, filters, exhaust fans, ceiling fans, and dryer vents. This includes grease build-up in ovens, stoves and food equipment

Licensing Supervisor observed all rooms having chipped paint throughout the facility. The four-year-old classroom had multiple walls that needed fixing and could be a potential hazard if children put the chipped paint in their mouth. The director stated, "that children are peeling the paint off." The three-year-old classroom has a wall on the left side that has a hole. Classrooms did not have a daily indoor inspection log. According to the DCF Facility Handbook- 3. Physical Environment Children are much more susceptible to the adverse effects of environmental factors, materials and toxicants. It is imperative that the childcare environment is conducive to the healthy development of children. 3.1 General Health and Safety Requirements A. All childcare facilities must be clean, in good repair, free from health and safety hazards and from evidence of, or presence of, vermin infestation. 21-11 · Restrooms and Bath Facilities
Licensing Supervisor observed the bathroom in the four-year-old classroom was not clean and/or sanitized. Remnants of fecal matter was in the toilet and urine on the seat. Toilet paper was on the floor and paint is coming off on all walls of the bathroom. This bathroom is being used by children. According to the DCF Facility Handbook- 3.7 Restrooms and Bath Facilities I. Each toilet and sink must be maintained in good operating condition, cleaned and sanitized or disinfected as needed, but at least once per day. Sinks utilized for teeth brushing activities/procedures by the children must be sanitized prior to the activity occurring
