06-01 · Background Screening Requirements FDCH/LFCCH Handbook
During the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed that the Family Day Care Homes Clearinghouse Employee/Contractor Roster was current. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed a Juvenile Record Search was not completed for one child household member. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance, per the Florida Statutes: Child care personnel in family day care homes shall be subject to the applicable screening provisions contained in ss. 402.305(2) and 402.3055. For purposes of screening in family day care homes, the term includes any member over the age of 12 years of a family day care home operators family, or persons over the age of 12 years residing with the operator in the family day care home. Members of the operators family, or persons residing with the operator, who are between the ages of 12 years and 18 years shall not be required to be fingerprinted, but shall be screened for delinquency records

During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed Clorox toilet cleaner on the back of the toilet, 3 laundry detergent containers were lined up by the wall next to the toilet. All chemicals were accessible to the children in care. During the time of the inspection, this was resolved by the Operator moving cleaning supplies to an area blocked from childrens reach. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance, per the FDCH Handbook:A. All areas and surfaces accessible to children shall be free from toxic substances and hazardous materials/equipment/tools, including power tools, plastic bags, matches, candles, lighters, etc. These items, as well as knives, sharp tools, BB guns, pellet guns and other potentially dangerous hazards, shall either be stored and in a locked area or must be inaccessible and out of a childs reach. B. All potentially harmful items including cleaning supplies, flammable products, poisonous, toxic, and hazardous materials must be labeled and used according to manufacturers recommendation. C. Narcotics, alcohol, or other impairing drugs/paraphernalia must be kept inaccessible to children at all times. D. Cleaning must not take place while rooms are occupied by children except for general clean-up activities that are part of the daily routine. General cleaning refers to cleaning necessary to maintain a sanitary environment but that does not pose a hazard to children, such as wiping the table after lunch, soaking toys in a tub on the countertop, sweeping. This does not include cleaning with hazardous materials or any cleaning which poses a risk of slipping or falling
