During the time of the inspection the pool alarm at the home was inoperable. The provider stated it is not working due to the level of the pool water. This was corrected at the time of the inspection as the provider was able to get the pool alarm operable with the movement of water. The alarm made a loud sound that you could hear inside the home. During the inspection, the Licensing Specialist Supervisor observed the swimming pool water/spa water to be clean/clear. The Owner had appropriate barriers in place (locks on doors, alarms on doors, safety locks on the doors, netting over the pool/spa). During the time of the inspection, the Owner advised that he will not be utilizing the swimming pool with the children in care. Per the DCF Handbook All in-ground swimming pools and above-ground swimming pools more than one-foot deep shall have either a fence or barrier on all four sides, at a minimum of four feet in height, separating the home from the swimming pool, or a pool alarm that is operable at all times when children are in care.
