During the time of inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed that several of the ceiling tiles in the afterschool classroom, two-year-old classroom and three- and four-year-old classroom had holes in them and not in good repair. During the time of inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed that the air vents in the three- and four-year-old classroom to be built up with dirt and dust CCF Handbook, section 3.1 General Health and Safety Requirements A. All child care facilities must be clean, in good repair, free from health and safety hazards and from evidence of, or presence of, vermin infestation. Indoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety and documented on a daily inspection log. B. It is the responsibility of the director/operator to ensure all areas and equipment of the facility are free from fire hazards, such as lint build up in heating and air vents, filters, exhaust fans, ceiling fans, and dryer vents. This includes grease build-up in ovens, stoves and food equipment

During the time of inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed bleach in an unlocked cabinet in the infant room. Licensing Specialist also observed bleach in an unlocked cabinet in the afterschool classroom. During the time of inspection, the Director locked the cabinet so that the bleach was no longer accessible to the children in care. During the time of inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed that the mulch/ground covering around the fall zone areas on the infant/toddler and preschool playgrounds measured only 2 inches in depth and not the required six inches. CCF Handbook, section 3.12 Outdoor Equipment D. Permanent or stationary playground equipment must have a fall/use zone that extends a minimum of 6 feet in all directions from the perimeter of the equipment. All types of ground cover must be maintained to provide resilience and reduce the incidence of injuries to children in the event of falls. 1 If the ground cover in place is loose ground cover (such as, but not limited to: mulch, shredded rubber chips, or sand) a minimum of 6 inches in depth is required in the use zone. Childcare Regulation observed that ALL classroom attendance logs were not current with children's attendance and their time in and out of the classrooms. Classroom attendance logs were not completed for the week of 6/19/2023-6/23/2023. According to the DCF Facility Handbook: 7.5 Daily Attendance Daily attendance of children must be taken and recorded accurately by the child care personnel, documenting the time when each child enters and departs the program. Technical Assistance provided: Child Care Regulation informed the director about children not being signed in and out, and the director corrected this with her staff so that attendance logs were current and accurate during the inspection
