During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed the sink in Room 6 to be rusted on the drainage hole. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance. Per the DCF Handbook "All child care facilities must be clean, in good repair, free from health and safety hazards and from evidence of, or presence of, vermin infestation. Indoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety and documented on a daily inspection log. Outdoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety. Any problems must be corrected before the play area is used by children. Documentation of the indoor play area inspection must be maintained for 12 months."

During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed children walking from their classrooms into the hallway and into the restrooms without direct supervision. During the time of the inspection, this was resolved by the teacher standing in the doorway with the children in the restroom. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed that in Room 3 there were adult scissors and a stapler on the wooden shelf leaving them accessible to the children in care. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed that in Room 4 there was a stapler on a wooden shelf, a gallon sized Ziploc back in a child's red bag on a low hanging hook, and grocery bags in an unlocked cabinet leaving them accessible to the children in care. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed in Room 5 there to be adult scissors on a wooden shelf to be accessible o the children in care. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed in Room 6 there to be a stapler on a wooden shelf and gallon sized Ziploc bags storing toys accessible to the children in care. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed in Room 14 there to be a staple removed in an unlocked drawer to be accessible to the children in care. During the time of the inspection, the licensing Specialist provided technical assistance. Per the DCF Handbook "All potentially harmful items, including cleaning supplies, flammable products, poisonous, toxic, and hazardous materials, must be labeled and used according to manufacturers recommendation. These items, as well as knives, sharp tools, and other potentially dangerous hazards, must be stored in a locked area or must be inaccessible and out of a childs reach at all times."

31-03 · Indoor Equipment
During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed the circled table with build in seats to not have the manufacture straps attached. Durign the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance. Per the DCF Handbook "Equipment, materials, furnishings, and play areas should be sturdy, safe, and in good repair. Provider should monitor the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recommendations for use of equipment. Walls, ceilings, floors, furnishings, equipment, toys, and other surfaces should be suitable to the location and the users. They should be maintained in good repair, free from visible soil and clean. Equipment and furnishings must be arranged to allow direct supervision of children by child care personnel from all areas within a room/play area. Bookshelves, televisions, and other heavy furnishings must be stable and secured as to not pose a threat of falling over. In efforts to prevent children from climbing to dangerous heights or enabling them to reach hazardous items, chairs and other furnishings must be placed away from cabinets and shelves. The program should make accommodations to the program environment and schedule so that children with special needs may participate."

During time of inspection, Child Care Regulation observed 4 childcare personnel did not have a current eligible level 2 Clearinghouse screening clearance on file. During time of inspection, Child Care Regulation observed electrical outlet covers were not in place in the VPK room. TA-All accessible electrical outlets must be tamper-resistant electrical outlets that contain internal shutter mechanisms to prevent children from sticking objects into receptacles. In settings that do not have tamper-resistant electrical outlets, outlets shall have safety covers.
