During the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed that an additional mattress topper had been placed underneath the fitted sheet in all three cribs. Two of the three cribs were occupied by sleeping children. The mattress toppers did not fit properly, extending beyond the edges of the crib mattresses on two sides. The Licensing Specialist checked the warning label on the crib mattress, which states: Never add soft bedding, padding, or an extra mattress. Use only one mattress at a time. Use only sheets and mattress pads designed specifically for this mattress size. During the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed one child sleeping in a crib with a pacifier attached to a strap. During the inspection, this has been resolved. The Provider removed the extra mattress toppers from all three cribs. The Provider removed the strap from the pacifier the child was using during nap time. During the inspection, the Licensing Specialist provided Technical Assistance (TA) per FDCH Handbook: 7.8 Appropriate, Safe and Sanitary Bedding D. Children must not be placed in the cribs, playpens, play yards or other sleeping and napping bedding with items that could pose a strangulation or suffocation risk. Cribs, playpens, play yards other napping and sleeping bedding being used by a child must be placed a minimum of 18 inches away from window blinds, draperies or any window treatment/cover that pose a strangulation hazard

During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed 1 tube of expired Benadryl cream During the time of the inspection, this was resolved by the Operator removing the cream from the daycare area. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance, per the FDCH Handbook: I. Medication which has expired or is no longer being administered shall be returned to the custodial parent or legal guardian or discarded if the child is no longer enrolled in care at the home."

During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed 1 tube of Benadryl cream did not have authorization from the parent/guardian. During the time of the inspection, this was resolved by the Operator removing the Benadryl cream from the daycare room. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance, per the FDCH Handbook: A. The operator must have written authorization from the custodial parent or legal guardian to dispense prescription and non-prescription medications. This authorization must be dated and signed by the custodial parent or legal guardian and must contain the childs name; the name of the medication to be dispensed; and the date, time and amount of dosage to be given. This record shall be initialed or signed by the child care personnel who gave the medication. Prescription and non-prescription medications that are used on an as needed basis require the parent/ legal guardian to provide additional documentation on the authorization form to describe symptoms that would require the medication to be given. The child care personnel must never administer a medication that is prescribed for one child to another child. B. Any known allergies to medication or special restrictions must also be documented, maintained in the childs file, and posted with stored medication."
