    12-02 · Facility Environment

    During the time of the inspection, the licensing Specialist observed 2 areas of the wall in the 3-year old room to have holes and a ceiling tile in the School age room to have a large crack. A tile was broken leaving jagged edges in the 2-year old room. During the time of the inspection, this was resolved by Owner patching the holes and the bathroom tile and replacing the ceiling tile. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance: per the CCF Handbook "A. All child care facilities must be clean, in good repair, free from health and safety hazards and from evidence of, or presence of, vermin infestation. Indoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety and documented on a daily inspection log. Outdoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety. Any problems must be corrected before the play area is used by children. Documentation of the indoor play area inspection must be maintained for 12 months."

    During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed a manual paper cutter stored on the teacher's desk and 25 bug spray bottles and cans in the 3-year old room in bins on a low shelf accessible to the children in care. During the time of the inspection, this was resolved by the Operator removing the bug sprays and placing them in a locked cabinet and placing the paper cutter up on a shelf out of reach of children. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance: per the CCF Handbook "B. All potentially harmful items, including cleaning supplies, flammable products, poisonous, toxic, and hazardous materials, must be labeled and used according to manufacturers recommendation. These items, as well as knives, sharp tools, and other potentially dangerous hazards, must be stored in a locked area or must be inaccessible and out of a childs reach at all times."

    During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed the wooden fence in the infant play area to be unstable. The Licensing Specialist noticed the fence was leaning and was able to move the fence back and forth slightly. During the time of the inspection, this was resolved by the Owner stabilizing the fence. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance: per the CCF Handbook "A. The outdoor play area must be clean and free from litter, nails, glass and other hazards."

    During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed napping mats to be stored together with non-impermeable cloth covers touching each other in a closet in the 2-year old room. The Operator advised that the covers are washed every other day. During the time of the inspection, this was resolved by the Operator advising that they will be washing the covers daily for now on. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance: per the CCF Handbook "G. Bedding and linens, when not in use, must be stored in a sanitary manner which prevents the spread of germs or lice from other linens. All bedding and linens must be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized at least once a week, and before use by another child. H. Bedding and linens shall not be stored in the bathroom, unless stored in cabinets."
