During the time of the inspection the Licensing Specialist observed that the white changing mat in the Toddler classroom had 3 rips in the covering on the mat. This was corrected at the time of the inspection as the Director replaced the white mat with a new mat for the changing table. Per the DCF Handbook When children in diapers are in care, there must be a diaper changing area with an impermeable surface that is cleaned and sanitized or disinfected after each use

18-06 · Bedding and Linens
During the time of the inspection, Licensing observed napping mats observed to be in bad repair (rips and tears.) This was not resolved at the time of inspection because the children began waking up from nap time. During the time of the inspection, Licensing provided technical assistance: "All child care facilities must be clean, in good repair, free from health and safety hazards and from evidence of, or presence of, vermin infestation. Indoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety and documented on a daily inspection log. Outdoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety. Any problems must be corrected before the play area is used by children. Documentation of the indoor play area inspection must be maintained for 12 months."

19-02 · Nap/Sleep Space Requirements
During the time of the inspection, Licensing observed children to be napping closer than eighteen inches apart in the VPK classroom. This was not resolved as the children were waking up from nap time after Licensing inform the VPK teacher. During the time of the inspection, Licensing provided technical assistance: "A minimum of 18 inches must be maintained around individual napping and sleeping spaces. A maximum of two sides of a napping or sleeping space may be against a solid barrier, such as the wall. The solid side of a crib does not meet the requirements for a solid barrier

05-04 · Transportation
During the time of the inspection the Child Care Licensing Specialist observed that the transportation log did not have 2 signatures needed for getting the children on and off the vehicle on 2/19.24. This was corrected at the time of the inspection as both the driver and teacher signed the log. Per the DCF Handbook 2.5.2 Transportation Log A. A log must be maintained for all children being transported in a vehicle or on foot away from and/or to the premises of the child care facility. The log must be retained on file at the facility for a minimum of 12 months and available for review by the licensing authority. The log must include: 1. Each childs name, 2. The date and time of departure, 3. Time of arrival at the destination, 4. The signature of the driver (or in the case of travelling on foot, the signature of the child care personnel), and 5. The signature of a second child care personnel or person(s) authorized by the provider to verify the transportation log and that all children have arrived safely and left the vehicle (if applicable)

32-07 · Outdoor Equipment
During the time of the Inspection the Child Care Licensing Specialist observed that the swing sets on both back playgrounds did not have enough mulch for the fall zones under the swings. Per the DCF Handbook D. Permanent or stationary playground equipment must have a fall/use zone that extends a minimum of 6 feet in all directions from the perimeter of the equipment. All types of ground cover must be maintained to provide resilience and reduce the incidence of injuries to children in the event of falls
