During the time of the compliant inspection the Licensing Specialist observed that child care personnel failed to document the arrival times of children in care. Licensing Specialist observed in the infant room that cribs were blocking the entrance and the exit area. Also, the cribs were blocking bathroom doors that are not in use for toilet training but are used for shelter in place. According to the DCF Handbook Section 3.8.3 Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness 3.8.3 Exit Areas The exit must be clearly marked, identifying the path to safety in case of an emergency, at all times during the operation of the child care facility. Licensing Specialist observed that an employee did not complete their training after 90 days of hired. According to the DCF Handbook Section 4.1 Beginning Training Child care personnel including volunteers who work 10 hours or more per month must begin training within 90 days of employment in the child care industry and successfully complete Departments training within 12 months from the date training begins. Training taken prior to employment in the child care industry does not constitute begin training. The begin training timeframes begin at the time of employment in the child care industry. Training completion may not exceed 15 months from the date of employment in the child care industry in any licensed Florida child care facility. This may be accomplished by classroom attendance in a Department-approved training course, acquiring an educational exemption from a Department-approved training course, beginning a Department-approved online child care training course, or by receiving results from a Department-approved competency examination.
