13-02 · Toxic Substances, Hazardous Materials and Weapons
During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed a staff bathroom in the hallway was unlocked with an unlocked cabinet inside leaving large jugs of cleaning solutions and a disinfectant spray on the toilet accessible to the children in care. A low drawer with a perfume bottle was unlocked leaving the perfume accessible to children in care. in the Seniors room. During the time of the inspection, this was resolved by the Operator locking the cabinet with the cleaning solutions and disinfectant spray. The drawer containing perfume was locked by the Operator. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance, per the CCF Handbook: B. All potentially harmful items, including cleaning supplies, flammable products, poisonous, toxic, and hazardous materials, must be labeled and used according to manufacturers recommendation. These items, as well as knives, sharp tools, and other potentially dangerous hazards, must be stored in a locked area or must be inaccessible and out of a childs reach at all times."

During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed napping linens which are only laundered 1 time a week were all touching in the Sophomores room. During the time of the inspection, this was resolved by the Operator placing all linens in each child's individual cubby. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance, per the CCF Handbook: G. Bedding and linens, when not in use, must be stored in a sanitary manner which prevents the spread of germs or lice from other linens. All bedding and linens must be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized at least once a week, and before use by another child. H. Bedding and linens shall not be stored in the bathroom, unless stored in cabinets."

During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed an expired diaper cream in the Tweenies room. During the time of the inspection, this was resolved by the Operator throwing the expired diaper cream away. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance, per the CCF Handbook: H. Medication that has expired or that is no longer being dispensed must be returned to the custodial parent or legal guardian or discarded."
